Message: Dear DBA,

I have two linux servers (memory = 32Go on each servers), theses servers act as a cluster (a third-party software is used for clustering)

I must migrate 3 databases to this cluster.
Actually, I have 2 instances running on this cluster.

one instance on node1, one instance on node2

My problem is :
I want to create the third database instance and I get : ora-27102 when dbca start database creation.

I already changed the shmmax to 16G (https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?_afrLoop=319121242315739&id=567506.1&_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.ctrl-state=bmn858vyb_85))

but dbca not working. An expert tell me to setup hugepages.
But, hugepages must be reviewed on server each time where a database is created (or moved !!).

I downloaded a script from here : https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?_afrLoop=388057950092189&parent=DOCUMENT&sourceId=361468.1&id=401749.1&_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.ctrl-state=11y3wdrker_200
This script must be used for see recommended hugepage.

I used it on both server and I get :

for node1 who run 1 instance: 2055
for node2 who run other instance (the bigger instance): 2058

Ready oracle doc and some blog about oracle not help me to understand and determine what to do

if I set vm.nr_hugepages to 2058, will be ok if the node run all instance ?
And what about memorylock: 16 Gb, more or less

than you for your help

You said you sized shm to 10G.
Oracle has already allocated (67108864 + 9965666304) /1024/1024/1024 = 9.3G and then can't allocate the next segment.
Increase the parameter.

Michel

Message: shmmax = 16G

From my initial post: I already changed the shmmax to 16G (https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?_afrLoop=319121242315739&id=567506.1&_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.ctrl-state=bmn858vyb_85))

Thess new servers replace 2 old servers.
Old server use oracle 10.2.0.3 64-bits with OEL 5 64-bits and memory=20Go.
I don't understand why for new server (oracle x6-2) with oracle database standard edition 11.2.0.4 64-bits, OS = Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.3 64-bits and 32Go RAM, I have many problem for create a database. This is ridiculous :-((

I know that oracle 11.2.04 disabled AMM if detect that physical memory is > 4Go, but my needs is how to configure correctly my servers for dbca and run many databases (actually max 3 db).
